These we believe to be memorials placed at the side of the road to the people who died in the Tsunami.

A very saddening sight.

While this is a local gas station in Karon. Yup, they're beer bottles, the stand a little further up the road had beer bottles with labels on...not to be confused with a bar on the way home late at night.

A 'Tuk Tuk', at a roadside cafe. Tuk Tuk's are the local taxi's, a cheap mode of transport, and they're everywhere!

Yogi looking 'cool' in a Tuk Tuk.

Songkran. It's a festival of water. In the morning, we were ushered to a statue of Bhuddha, and were asked to clense it, which we did, and then we were presented with a garland of sweet smelling white flowers. Can't tell you the exact history, but there are a couple of webpages that may explain it a little better.
Flob had warned us not to take out cameras, phones and to wrap wallets well in plastic (for all the good it did!). We didn't quite bank on what we experienced! We decided to arm ourselves with SuperSoakers the night before on the way back to the hotel. They were assembled and filled for us at the roadside. Yogi took a pot shot at a poor waiter, who disapeared and re-appeared with a bucket of water which he chucked at us all! Yogi then spent the early hours getting soaked in Flobs bar, how the electrics never shorted, I'll never know! This then went on for the whole of the next day, climaxing in Patong that night. We headed up to the Blue Note Bar, and arrived reasonably dry, and left reasonably dry too! Amazing!

The early hours.

Can't remember where we were heading, but at the side of the road we saw some elephants all trussed up and ready to go off for a trek.

Our 'Tuk Tuk' driver saw we had our camera's and stopped (and waited) for me to jump out and take some pictures.
