Mad Caths Benefit Gig 2003

Page 1

On 19th April 2003 the Barrel Bikers along with the Tribal Gypsies put on a benefit gig to raise some funds for one of our members who had been seriously ill. Mad Cath (Cathy Norman) was rushed into hospital with major digestive problems which ment she could not eat most normal foods. As a result she lost most of her body weight and was on the hospital critical list for a while. She was, by the time of the benefit gig, out of hospital and on the way to a long slow recovery. Cathy has a sister living in spain who suggested she went there, as soon as she was fit enough to travel, to convalesce in the warmer climate. The Barrel had decided to pay her air fair from club funds but the Tribal Gypsies offered to help us put on a benefit gig to raise funds to pay her expenses while she was out there. The Result was the biggest biker party in Milton Keynes since the last one.

The Peartree Bridge Family (bloody loud rock and glam band)gave their services free, as did Pete Roberts the DJ. The Gig itself raised over £1000 and with donations from other sources (full details to follow) the total raised should be around £1300.

Cathy sent the following message to everyone at the gig:

Big Hi to Everyone!

I'm so sorry I don't really feel well enough at the moment to party with you. But from the bottom of my heart to you all: The Barrel, Tribal Gypsies, Peartree Bridge Family, and every person there tonight, I thankyou. Your kindness and caring support, mean so very much.

The biggest of hugs and love to you all.

Huge thanks,
Mad Cath
xx
