GPO Rally 2002

Friday night my camera played up, so it was Saturday before my pictures start this year.

Saturday saw the bike Judging and Silly Games. Because of the lack of space etc we decided to judge the bikes amongst the tents rather than have a show arena this year.

This Harley won the Best Chop award

While Cliff's GSX won the best Paint

Best 3 Wheeler went to Frank's Stealth Trike.
The best in show was won by an excellent Chevvy Trike but sorry, didn't get a picture of it.

This Laverda Jarama was voted Best Standard

While Hedge's GS was the rattiest bike on the field

Hedge(the smug looking one on the left) and the rest of the Hampshire BALLS soon got into the swing of the games, the Traditional Musical bikes was changed to a pedestrian version without the bikes for safety reasons. Wilf from the Balls (right of center in the picture) was the eventual winner.

BALLS wern't so lucky in the sack race

That was won by Mark and Paul from the Highway hunters

The Wheel Walk was murder on the leg and back muscles but Rob from the BALLS eventually won

The Drag race took an interesting twist, The idea was that someone should sit on a sack of straw while two people draggged it. The kids got involved and Chloe and a lad from the BALLS decided to ride in the Sacks instead. They enjoyed it so much they insisted on a re-run. Rob and Paul from BALLS with Chloe in the sack won the race both times.

The Egg Walking was a game borrowed from the Cernunnos Mcc's Mabon Rally a few weeks before, mind you Wilf and Hedge from BALLS seemed to be getting awfully friendly with Barrel girls Sally and Karolinka. Wilf and Sally won in the end.

OK, he was a rally virgin. OK, I should have known better than to give Karolinka and Mad Cath the flour and eggs. Ok, I should have stayed to help the lad, instead I legged it to a safe distance to take photographs (well it can be a cold wet dirty job but somebody had to do it).

The computer throwing should have gone without a hitch, a computer was built from scrap bits (and a badly virused hard drive) from work, specially for the job, all the bays were full, all the edges checked so nobody could cut their fingers, then somebody who hasn't learnt yet decided to nick it on Friday night. Since it must have been put in a car to take it away (we did let a few on site to unload on the Friday) next year everybody will be lugging their gear from the car park. Another computer was used for the throwing, everybody was warned about the sharp edges, we had loads of cut fingers anyway. Apologies to everybody that cut themselves, the eventual winner was Stan from the Isle of Wight.

The computer smashing was won by Sue Harvey from Ridgeway Mcc, I admit I was so stunned to see a quiet lass like Sue laying into the computers with such aggression and violence I forgot to take a picture. Here is one of Hedge from BALLS having a go instead.

The other games winners were:

Camel Race:- Wilf, Hedge and Thomas BALLS
Tug of War:- Hampshire BALLS
Animal Race:- Chloe and Thomas (I think)
Treasure Hunt:- Chloe
