Barrel Bikers 10th Custom and Classic
Bike Show 2003

The Barrel Bikers 10th Custom and Classic bike show took place this year at the Cruik Barn, Bradwell Abbey, Milton Keynes on 3rd August. The sun was hot, the beer was cold and the Ice Cream was colder.

It was a warm summers morning and the usual suspects turned up early to get everything set up. By the time I arrived at 9.30, thanks to the amazing efforts of Chester (show organiser), Tim (Catering manager), Keith (DJ) and the rest of the club who turned up on time, the jobs were mainly done and the site was set up. It wasn't long before our first punters arrived and the show started to get in full swing. Club member Karolinka had managed to get an article in the local paper about the show, and even managed to get her picture on the front cover of the GO (what's on in MK) magazine, (she is still talking to the rest of us despite being a cover girl) so there were more people than ever at this years show.

The Bouncy castle turned up a bit later on with the Ice-Cream van arriving about mid-day to complete the family entertainment part of the show. The standard of the bikes this year was stunning and the three judges Mole (that's me) Picasso and Lover Boy (Ariel 3 racer) had a hard time picking the winners in the different classes. The eventual winners were chosen with a little help from Keith the Dj (and experienced Trike builder) and a few other club members who were asked their opinion. Finally the prizes were awarded, the catering tent ran out of food (first time ever and that was after two runs to Tesco), and the ice-cream man planned his foreign holiday. As far as we can estimate there were over 1000 visitors to the show, with representatives from clubs from all over the country, the custom bikes and trikes were excellent, the Classic bikes were amazing, and the whole show was a success.

The clean up operation then swung into action and with the usual Barrel Bikers efficiency the whole site was cleared and cleaned in about 90 minutes.

Many thanks go to all the Barrel Bikers that turned up to help, some after only a few hours sleep, and to the staff at the Cruik Barn.

And a special thank you to all the punters that turned up to make it one of the most successful custom and Classic shows the club has ever put on.
