Charity work:
Most years we pick a charity, which usually means something special to the Club or individual members, and we raise money through raffles, collections etc.
This year we are raising money for 2 local charities, who deal with differing aspects MS.
Some of the previous charities we've raised money for:
- In 2010, we supported the charity Headway, and have so far raised in excess of £500!
- In 2009, we supported the Thames Valley & Chiltern Air Ambulance, and on the 31st March 2010 we presented 2 pilots with a cheque for £1386.38! The Air Ambulance Trust has saved some peoples lives who are very close to the Barrel's heart, and maybe one day...
- In 2008, we raised money for Stepping Stones special needs playgroup.
- In 2007, we donated to the David Cooper Memorial Run in memory of Alex.
- In 2006, we adopted the charity Guide Dogs for the Blind, and raised a whopping £3,227.63.
- In 2005, we raised over £1500 to help directly with the Tsunami relief.
